The Veterinary Centre

Founded in 1942, the Veterinary Centre is a regional vet practice owned by a farmer co-operative. It has gradually expanded over more than 65 years to include four clinics scattered over nearly 4,000 km2 of the greater Waikato and King Country region.

Problem

How to round up four disparate vet practices

Unfortunately each of the centre’s four clinics were running independent, unintegrated systems, creating an administrative nightmare for CEO, Gavin Shepherd. “We just couldn’t get access to the information we needed to effectively run the business”.

Solution

Terminal Services to the rescue

IT Partners’ solution was to migrate all four clinics to a common vet practice management application running on a centralised system. Through the magic of Terminal Services, staff in the clinics at Hamilton, Putaruru and Otorohanga now transparently run the same software off a server based in Te Awamutu.

Result

“It means we’re now free to expand the practice”

Management now has access to data that is accurate in real time, giving them much better control over stock, debtors and creditors. Customer service is improved too because clients can now walk into any of the four clinics and have access to their records. It also removes a major obstacle to growth. “With the improved management control, we’re now free to expand the practice”.

This solution – and its smooth implementation - confirmed Gavin’s already favourable impression of IT Partners. “They’re not just our IT company. They’re a valued business partner.”
