Kaseya is a software agent that monitors the performance and status of your servers and workstations, giving us alerts or diagnostic information to aid us in resolving issues before they affect you.


The main reason we use Kaseya is so that we can be proactive and solve what appear to be minor issues before they become major issues. Where possible, we have the ability to automate fixes of potential issues.

Two good examples of how we use Kaseya are:

  1. We monitor free disk space. Having small amounts of available disk space effects performance of both servers and workstations - in the worst cases, services and software can crash or fail to start. At preset levels, Kaseya alerts us by raising a ticket in Autotask.

  2. We know that two disk performance metrics are a good indication that a server’s performance is being effected by disk fragmentation. In this case, we have programmed Kaseya to automatically create a job on the server to defragment itself.

From a user perspective Kasaya also gives us the ability (with your permission) to remotely control your workstation.  This allows us to support you remotely wherever you may be - including one user in the UK recently!
 

We are continuing to invest in Kaseya.  Future development will allow us to better respond and maximise server uptime.
