In the never-ending bid to try to make our lives easier, Microsoft has made some great modifications when it released Outlook 2010.   We’ve trawled through the new features of Outlook 2010 and picked our favourite additions.

  • More ‘Out of Office’ auto reply options – this features allows you to create different messages for internal or external emails.  You have the ability to choose a date/time range in which the auto replies are sent.
  • Conversation clean up - at the click of a button you can remove all excess replies and responses in an email conversation, leaving you with one email of the whole conversation.
  • Include screenshot in email - with just a few clicks you can choose a screenshot to attach to your email from any number of programmes you have open.
  • Search options – following on from the great addition of the email search option in 2007, 2010 includes a number of new criteria to search from, making it even easier.
  • Quick Steps – customise Quick Steps to perform the tasks you perform most commonly in one click such as, moving messages to folders and emailing groups.
  • Easier scheduling – email your calendar for easier schedule sharing.

There are even more great additions available if you also upgrade to Exchange 2010.  These features include:

  • alerts on potentially embarrassing mistakes such as hitting the reply all to a large recipient list
  • sending a message to someone who is out of the office
  • sending sensitive information out of the office group
  • provides a voice-to-text preview of a recorded voice message to your inbox
