IT Security Tips
Is someone stealing your data right now?
Are you and your staff taking the right precautions when it comes to taking responsibility for the security of your data? Here are a few tips to optimize your security.
- Create strong passwords - we know you need passwords for everything and it’s hard to remember them all, but the word ‘password’ or your last name is not a strong password. Make a company policy, and enforce it – we can help with this.
- Use up-to-date anti-virus software - get a good one, and make sure it’s current, or you might as well not have any protection at all. At IT Partners we use ESET NOD32 and ensure all of our managed clients are updated to the latest release.
- Backup your data – imagine how hard it would be to re-enter a full day of work for the whole company. If you have a backup tape, make sure it’s changed daily and check that your restores are working.
- Use email safely – don’t act on unusual messages from people you don’t know. The IT Partners firewall has a mail scanning component that drops most infected messages before they hit your mail server. If in doubt, don’t open it and either call us or delete it.
