Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft has released new cloud based services called Office 365. Office 365 is a family of collaboration and productivity tools delivered through the cloud. Examples are email and SharePoint.

All Office 365 solutions are per user with monthly subscription costs, depending on functionality required. For an overview of plans available see here.

Top reasons clients are deploying a cloud based solution (rather than a local server based solution) include:  reducing support costs, accessing new technology and functionality, and being able to support a mobile or dispersed workforce.

Today, most cloud based solutions (61%) are based around email, with the next biggest solution being disaster recovery.
