iPhone tips

Here are some of the most handy keyboard tips we've found - as we find new ones we'll post them here.

  • My iPhone has frozen – reset it by holding both the home button and the on/off button down together until the phone gives you the shutdown option. Shutdown and restart.
  • Take a screenshot and email it - quickly press the on/off button and home button at the same time to take a screenshot of your screen and save it in your photos. It is now available to email.
  •  Insert punctuation quickly – rather than flicking between the ‘ABC’ and ‘123’ keyboard to insert a number, symbol or punctuation, tap and hold the ‘123’ key, slide your finger to the symbol/number you want (without removing it from the keypad) and release your finger. The symbol will be inserted and the keyboard will automatically return to ‘ABC’.
  • Easily move your cursor around the screen – tap and hold anywhere near the text. A magnifier will appear to make is easier to place your cursor exactly where you want it.
  • Automatically insert a full stop and start a new sentence - double tap the space bar at the end of your sentence.
  • Return to the top of the page - tap the clock at the top of the screen to instantly return to the top of your document, email or web page.
  • Show other common domain name extensions – tap and hold the .com button to show more options.
