IT Partners breathes new life into international recruitment system

Background:

Connor Brady and Catherine Neazor Brady provide international recruitment and visa services to families and individuals wishing to start a new life in New Zealand. Their business, New Life Global aims to match the best international talent with the best local businesses.

But to do that, Connor and Catherine need the best IT systems and support – and they weren’t getting it from their previous provider.

“We were on a VOIP system and our phones were never working,” says Catherine. “When the phones did work we couldn’t hear our clients on the other end and we were losing business because of it.”

Problem:

Jason Walker, IT Partners’ Head of Sales, says New Life Global’s IT and phone systems were significantly outdated which was leading to a range of problems. “They had an aging onsite server, inadequate security and backups, lots of SPAM and the phone wasn’t working properly. Calls were being dropped and that’s not what Connor and his team needed, particularly when speaking with clients overseas.”

Other issues identified in New Life Global’s IT audit included:

  • VPN’s not working smoothly
  • Both the mapped network drive and printer mappings regularly disconnected
  • Poor WiFi coverage
  • Email had lots of SPAM and legitimate emails were ending up in the SPAM folder. Connor needed to check his Junk folder every day.

Given the nature of their business and the sensitive information they deal with, Connor and Catherine also wanted to ensure they had the best level of protection available for their clients. IT Partners came up with some fantastic solutions.

Solution:

Lance Wright, IT Partners’ Head of First Line Support and a Senior Systems Engineer, assessed New Life Global’s IT needs and recommended the company move to an IT Partners Managed Service. This encompasses IT security, support and strategy.

“A managed service would set New Life Global up with an IT system that clients coming to New Zealand for a new life would expect,” says Jason. “New Zealand is known for its innovation and entrepreneurial streak so a company like New Life Global, which is a first contact for many people considering a move downunder, needs IT solutions that ensure clients get this experience, right from the word go.”

Lance and the team implemented a new Lightwire phone solution, set up the Cloud for email (Office 365) and file management, and added a multi-layered security approach based on industry practice.

“The security layers included: antivirus, anti-malware, vulnerability patching, network level content filtering, external email scanning and a managed firewall,” explains Lance. “We ensured more effective backups offsite at the IT Partners data centre too.”

Result:

Connor and Catherine noticed an immediate difference. “Our previous provider hadn’t installed the router properly nor configured it correctly,” says Connor. “The downtime was costing us then we incurred extra costs for them to fix it.

“Now we have the services and expertise of a friendly IT team who engage in proactive monitoring. They run automatic updates and have made it easier for our staff who work remotely to access documents faster and more easily.”

Connor and Catherine say IT Partners had a good understanding of what their business needed and could explain it all in normal language. “They’re techy guys but they use normal language,” says Connor. “We’ve been very impressed with the personalised service they provide.”
