Microsoft 365 applications are constantly developing and changing over time. Outlook, is at the center of these applications, helping to manage your email messages, calendar, contacts, and tasks. It’s critical for not only your communications but also time management.

In the last month alone there have been several advancements come to Outlook that may lead to efficiencies for you!

Features added to Outlook desktop application for Windows 10 include:

1. ‘Meet Now’ functionality:

You can now start an instant Teams meeting from the Calendar tab in Outlook by clicking ‘Meet Now’:

2. Automatically make all meetings Teams meetings:

You can automatically make all meetings Teams meetings by adjusting your Calendar settings. Even if your meeting isn’t initially intended to be online, we all know that factors can come into play that see meetings move virtually. For example, flexible working arrangements, an attendee being unwell, or a change in alert levels.

To save time adjusting meetings to online, it makes sense to have this setting turned on!

To access this setting go to File > Options > Calendar:

3. Outlook now stores your settings in the cloud:

You may have recently received the following pop-up – but what does this mean?

By default, your settings are now stored in the cloud. This includes the following settings:

  • General
  • Mail
  • Calendar
  • Groups
  • People
  • Tasks
  • Search
  • Ease of Access
  • Advanced

This means that you can move from Outlook on your desktop to Outlook on the Web (OWA), and between computers or devices, without needing to reconfigure your settings each time – long overdue right!
