What we look for in a candidate

At IT Partners, people are the foundation of our success. Our close-knit team thrives on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose — so when we bring someone new on board, it’s not just about filling a role. It’s about investing in our team, in our clients and in our future – great people, lead to great things.

At IT Partners, we believe that who is on the team matters more than anything else. We treat recruitment as one of the most important decisions we make. Every application is reviewed with care, and our multi-step interview process goes far beyond checking off technical skills. We're looking for people who align with our values, contribute to our culture, and are excited to grow alongside us.

Because when you start with the right people, everything else — growth, delivery, and results — naturally follows.

We believe the best outcomes come from a strong mutual fit — where your values align with ours, and you feel empowered to thrive. That’s why we’re sharing what we look for in a candidate, so you can decide if IT Partners is the right place for you, just as much as we determine if you're the right fit for us.

What makes our recruitment process unique:

At IT Partners, we approach hiring differently from any other company. Here’s how:

  1. A personalised approach: Designed to balance efficiency with the human touch. Our People & Culture team ensure every application is thoughtfully reviewed, you can expect tailored updates, making the process transparent, engaging and uniquely designed around your potential fit for now or future roles. AI agents will become an important part of our future recruitment strategy to enhance efficiency in sourcing smarter, tailoring communication, and assisting with scheduling. This technology will enable us to dedicate more time to where the human touch matters most.
  2. Virtual bench: The virtual bench consists of potential candidates who are either waiting for a role to become available, or are currently happy where they are and open to future opportunities. This approach allows us to connect with potential candidates early on, and jump on opportunities as they arise.
  3. Multiple step process: We go through four key stages with our candidates. Each of the stages allow you to meet various team members to give you the bigger picture of who we are. The approach benefits both the candidate and our hiring team in assessing fit within our team – remembering, this is both ways. Part of this multiple step process is a candidate lunch, where you’ll have an opportunity to meet who you’ll be working most closely with – and an opportunity for our team to be part of the decision-making process on who joins our team.

Channel the ITP way:

We are sharing our company's culture code - the IT Partners Way - which is designed to give meaning to our culture, helping us to put our thoughts into words. By sharing this, we aim to ensure transparency, enabling both current and potential team members to understand what truly drives us and why they might feel a sense of belonging here.

The IT Partners Way is very much our company’s DNA, and the culture we choose to create. And as we look to bring new people on to our team, the IT Partners Way is a fantastic resource to align what we look for in a candidate and what it’s like to work for us.

We continuously ask ourselves the question of how we can contribute and impact the ITP Way. Think about how you can add to the ITP Way and showcase this during the recruitment process.

Our next superstar embodies...

We absolutely love that every candidate can bring something unique to the table.

Here are some attributes we will be looking for throughout the hiring process that will go beyond the technical capabilities.

Authenticity: Being your authentic self is key to thriving in our team culture. Throughout the candidate process, we encourage you to let your personality shine, allowing us to get to know the real you and what makes you unique. This not only enriches our team dynamics but also helps us build genuine and lasting connections with our clients.

Preparedness: Preparedness reflects a proactive mindset and a commitment to excellence. This involves being well-prepared for your interview, whether it's by exploring our resources on our website or preparing thoughtful questions for our hiring team. Demonstrating preparedness for an interview reflects how prepared you will be in your role. Our Team utilises tools like Microsoft Planner, Outlook, or OneNote to prioritise tasks and organise to ensure effective time management.

Good communication: Communication plays a vital role in our success, especially in fostering strong relationships with our clients. Effective communication supports:

  • Positive client perception: Clear, professional, and responsive communication ensures we consistently exceed client expectations.
  • Working as a team: Encourages team cohesion. Being able to discuss issues transparently and openly within a team leads to better understanding and seamless collaboration.
  • Viewing feedback as a gift: Communication skills enable team members to give and receive feedback constructively.
"A candidate stands out when they show genuine enthusiasm for working at IT Partners; the role itself becomes an added bonus. We offer more than just a job; we create a supportive environment where employees feel a sense of belonging and look forward to coming to work."

- Julie Forsyth, People and Culture Coordinator at IT Partners
